Phillip Fields
Creating a Courageous Counter Culture
START VIEWING AT TIME STAMP 56:15.
"A revival that doesn't impact culture is just a spiritual exercise. Revival needs to turn into reformation."
Teaching out of Romans 12:1-2, Phillip Fields shares about the small, Roman church that changed their culture.
Prior to Paul writing to this church, they were immersed in the Roman culture of the day. Paul is passionately sharing the entirety and the transforming power of the gospel.
"Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God's will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes." (Romans 12:2)
Paul is trying to tell them, "WAKE UP. WAKE UP. There is a culture around you that is trying to control you and conform you from the outside in."
For the longest time, we have treated church as entertainment.
The church has become like watching TV. We sit there passively and watch.
But we can no longer afford that.
Instead of being church attendants, we need to be believers who co-labor with God to change our culture.
We were created to worship God. Not just on Sunday, but submit our bodies as a temple and a house of worship.
In your workplace, worship.
In your local grocery store, worship.
In your home, worship.
No matter where you are, God wants to show up THROUGH YOU to impact those places.
DO NOT LISTEN TO THE LIE THAT THE DARKNESS RIGHT NOW IS GREATER THAN THE LIGHT.
DO NOT LISTEN TO THE LIE THAT THE WORLD IS TRYING TO PRESSURE US INTO BELIEVING WE HAVE LOST.
Because greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world.
